For years I used to cook diner on Christmas Eve for more than 10 to 15 people but Covid happened and some dearest moved on to high land , little ones move to over lands . So for the last 2 years I decided not to cook but enjoy a nice diner in a nice French restaurant followed by a great night of music in one most famous jazz club in New York . This works for me and I always friends joining me … Christmas Day was always a day of rest and cleaning up now it is still pyjamas and calling the people I love …
Tradition will be eating oysters which I intend to do tonight …. Drinking some Champagne !!!
If olds traditions are no longer working adopt new ones… but just do something that make you happy … I have not been in France for many years for the holidays so … may next years
I totally agree about evolving Christmas traditions as life/lives evolve. Where you have currently landed sounds perfect! I hope the French food and jazz were sublime and the oysters will be a delicious smack of the sea…cheers, enjoy reflecting on 2024 🥂x
I guess it is happy Boxing Day to you ……I hope you had a great time also … I was in good company with my longest american friend , and it was perfect . No fuss,no worries…. I had not walked through the west village for a while … I used to close by so … and the music was definitely uplifting … I think people put to much pression on the holidays .
Not much of a traditionalist either Ruth - whatever makes Christmas fun is how we roll. That does include a Snowball when we can ensure it includes a little lime, lemonade and glacier cherry alongside the main Warninks. Then it feels like Christmas has really begun. No Turkey for us this year. Two of us got our wish for Lobster Thermidor and lots of pink champagne and not much else! We might have to throw in a few roasties for the other two at some point. Have a fab festive break Ruth with your loved ones xx
Lobster Thermidor and Pink Champagne? I’m on my way ;-) Delighted you will be enjoying a beautifully executed Snowball. Have a lovely time with your loved ones too Corrs, see you next year! X
Finally feeling relaxed and just relishing tea sitting in front of the fire after yet another seasonal long car journey … quality street already open … working Xmas Eve with fingers crossed that no one really needs to come to the doctors that day … but Charlie and Millie home for a short while, enough for feasting on an apple fed cockerel and playing Articulate again which is lovely and enough after the mad run up to the big day…New Years Eve party on the horizon…phew! Sending you Xmas cheer and see you in 2025 🥰
Oh I can picture the scene Emma…did you murder the Green Triangles or the Purple Nutty ones?? I’m hoping you are having a quiet morning at work. Me doing last minute packing then off to friends in Leicestershire - enjoy having the ‘kids’ home, your NYE party and we definitely need a catch up in early 2025. Lots of festive love to you and the fam x
