I just started watching Black Doves yesterday so immediately 'got' your theme: great idea! As I get older I realise just how much 70s / 80s Christmas tunes are connected to my feeling of childhood and ergo, how much they mean to me.

They take me back to so many happy times of Christmas parties in Wolverhampton with all the family-- times that have changed since as loved ones have passed, partners divorced and kids moved on. Lonely this Christmas and Driving Home for Christmas are two special ones for me, and I would always rock out to I wish it could be Christmas every day (I was thrilled that Roy Wood was from the Black Country, lol) and Shakin' Stevens' Merry Christmas, everyone.

Now you're making me want to play them, even on 7 Jan!!

Oh you are in for a treat with Black Doves Emma - and i hear they are recording S2...worry not, S1 has a great ending though!

I'm not sure i knew you were a Midlander - me Birmingham...how fabulous that 2 of the greatest Christmas songs ever are from Midlanders - Roy and Noddy!

Play them, dare you ;-)

Great selection Ruth! I have a fondness for Jona Lewie's Stop the Cavalry and also Paul McCartney's Pipes of Peace. Strange to think that All I want for Christmas wasn't much of a hit at the time!

Listening to my Nat King Cole Christmas album whilst wrapping presents, accompanied by a Baileys and a mince pie is a festive highlight for me.

Last Christmas by Wham was sooo cool at the time. Love the fact that they were actually getting drunk making the video!!

Have a fabulous christmas Ruth. xx

Oh i can so picture your Christmas Wrapping scene Amanda, perfect!

It is such a fun video - fascinating to hear about the making of it in the documentary and that Andrew was so legless! I think George Michael was such a genius,,,I had the good fortune to see him in concert, a very sexy man.

You have a fabulous Christmas too Amanda, and here’s to ‘25 :-) x
