You're new, so I'm sure everyone will let you off, but it's "parkrun" with no capitals, especially not a capital "R" ;-)

Great to see you enjoyed it, and the community is incredible at every parkrun, so I hope you'll keep going back over and over.

OMG thanks for pointing out my grammatical clanger Alistair! I had a feeling I was wrong but…

Parkrun (!) is a wonderful initiative and community. I’m grateful to have, eventually, found it. Thanks for reading ☀️

Well done, Ruth - so glad you have found the parkrun community! For me, Saturday = parkrun and, whether I'm volunteering or participating, that's my happy place.

I wish they offered it on a Sunday morning, as I'm a soccer mum and always have football on Saturday morning... well done you, and your times are excellent!

Well done Ruth! I am happier on 2 wheels but never say never!

Off to the gravel trails of Tuscany soon to celebrate the milestone of my 60th (still not sure how I feel about this, turning 60 I mean, mixed emotions seem to be manifesting !) Keep on keeping on Ruth x

🤣 I know what you mean Louise!

Oh Tuscany will be fabulous. Coincidentally 2 friends of mine have just got back from doing just that. They absolutely loved the cycling…and the food, wine and countryside!

Have a fab time. As for being 60? Well, it’s better than the other option 🤣x

Thanks so much for your blogs. I love reading them. I feel I have some skin in your game! It was great this week to do the park run with you without even leaving my cosy bed. ❤️

Good for you, Ruth. That was a really nice read, I really enjoyed it.

I lived near Finsbury Park when I did all my financial services training back in the late 1990s, so I know the area well (you might recall the FPC exams; we had to pass parts 1-3 within 12 months to keep our jobs!)

Sending best wishes, Simon.

Thanks Simon for your encouragement. Good to know you can envisage my run, and the cheeky hills 🤣. As for those FPCs …I remember them well, ish!

Parkrun is definitely one of my happy places. I have been involved in setting up new park runs for a while and my favourite place is at Hertford junior parkrun on a Sunday morning. Same idea as the 5k Saturday event but for 4-14 year olds and a shorter 2k distance.

If you want to see what pure joy looks like at 9am on a Sunday morning for 180 kids plus who knows how many adults, it would be great to see you 🤩

You might even get a coffee after!

That’s so brilliant to hear Amanda. What a wonderfully community spirited thing to do. You are clearly a parkrun aficionado (?sp)! Thanks very much for the invite…you never know, I might just take you up on it!

Hi Ruth, really enjoying your blog. I came across it just last week, it's a great read.

My happy, wellbeing place would be running on the moors near my house. Parkrun would definitely be in the top 10 though I'd say. Great that you've got back into running, and parkrun is a fantastic place to do that!

Thanks for your lovely words Gareth. Moors running, brilliant! Which ones are close to you? I recall doing a 26m fell run around Kirby Stephen in my early 30s…loved it. And you’re right, parkrun is very special. Thanks for the encouragement

Baildon Moor for me. Not one of the really hardcore ones, but I'm fortunate that it's just a mile from my house! Plenty of other options in Yorkshire if I venture a few miles further though.

Love this, Ruth! Well done (and great times for your first ones). Have you caught the running bug now? For me my happy place is in flow state, however I get there (usually dancing, reading, writing and often - really! - working on something meaty at work).

Thanks Emma. I hope to have the bug…I had it big time in my 30s & 40s and ‘did London’ twice…tbh these days I’m more than delighted if I can regularly do 5km (well maybe eventually 10km 😘). I get those flow states…I love dancing too. And I get the work buzz too. ☀️
