Life's revolutions….creating abundance #065
You know how much I dislike the word 'retirement'?...
You know how much I dislike the word retirement?
Well, I’ve been asked by the lovely people at Paradigm Norton to take part in ‘Life is a Revolution’ – a four part series for women on life and money. I’m taking part in the final session talking about creating an abundant retirement.
Oh the irony…
It’s going to be a goodie.
We had a dry run on Tuesday. I’m on a panel with two other women.
One of the panellists is Rebecca Hill, who, after years with a top four consulting firm, has started a brilliant encore business Wise Sherpa. She spoke of some of the differences women face as they approach this life stage, not least the gender pensions gap (that is, they generally have less money to spend in retirement than men) and caring responsibilities (for ageing parents and grandchildren).
Kiarna Tarr, founder of Retire and Roam, is the second panellist. From a company pensions background Kiarna, has built this innovative new business to help people live their retirement travel dreams.
We will be hosted by the irrepressible Carmel Dickinson, founder of Worthy. Carmel and I have shared a stage talking about women and money on many occasions. I love Carmel’s no BS approach and passion for everything she does.
My role? To share my experiences both as a financial planner and woman navigating this stage of life.
Tune in
If you’re free on Thursday evening from 7pm to 8pm why not take a look? It’s going to be a honest and open conversation looking at:
What retirement really looks like for women in 2025,
Making a smooth transition – emotionally, financially and practically,
Financial planning for a secure and stress free retirement,
Ending or encore? Exploring second careers, volunteering and passion projects, and
The joy of travel and new experiences – how to make the most of your freedom.
Registration details here.
If this feels like a pitch, it’s not meant to. It’s a genuine opportunity to hear more about some of the topics I’ve been writing about over the last 64 weeks or so.
You
As ever, I’m interested in you.
What do you think of the word retirement?
What comes to mind when you hear that word?
What word would you replace it with?
Pour yourself a ‘brandy and lovage’ (I recall my mum drinking this in the 70s :-)) and drop me a line, I’d love to hear from you.
And remember, you are never going to be any younger than you are today, what are you delaying for tomorrow that you should really be doing today?
Until next week my friends,
Ruth x
